(Francis), a Protestant minister, and learned professor of divinity at Utrecht, was born at Leyden in 1628; and died on the 10th of November 1679, after having published a course of divinity, and several other works.
He is not to be confounded with Francis Burman, his son; or with Peter Burman, a laborious commentator on Phaedrus, Lucan, Petronius, and other profane authors, who died in 1741.
