(anc. geog.) that branch of the Nile which empties itself at the mouth called Oltium Pathmeticum, or Phatmeticum, (Ptolemy); also a part, according to an ancient map, at the Oltium Mendesium; this river, or branch, dividing itself at Diospolis into two branches: called Bufriticus, from the city of Busiris, which stood on its left, or west branch. It is the second branch of the Nile, reckoning from the east.
