a town of Monmouthshire in England, and a place of great antiquity. It was a Roman town, as is evident from the many Roman antiquities found here. It is commodiously situated on the river Usk, over which there is a large wooden bridge. The houses are generally built of stone, and there are the ruins of a castle still to be seen. W. Long. 3. o.
