Kaffa, a city and port-town of Crim Tartary, situated on the south-east part of that penin- sula. E. Long. 37° 0' N. Lat. 44° 55'. It is the most considerable town in the country, and gives name to the straits of Caffa, which runs from the Euxine or Black Sea, to the Palus Meotis, or sea of Azoph.
