a fortified town of Italy, in Piedmont, with a good castle. It was taken by the French in 1601, and retaken by prince Eugene the same year. It is seated in a country abounding in corn, flax, and silk, near the river Po, in E. Long. 7° 32'. N. Lat. 44° 43'.
