in a commercial style, signifies the stock or ready money which a merchant or other person has in his present disposal to negotiate; so called from the French term caisse, i.e. chest or casket for the keeping of money.

M. Savary shows, that the management of the cash of a company is the most considerable article, and that whereon its good or ill success chiefly depends.
