**Chopin** (René), a famous civilian born at Baillent in Anjou in 1537. He was advocate in the parliament of Paris, where he pleaded for a long time with great reputation. He at last shut himself up in his closet and composed many works, which have been collected together, and printed in 6 vols., folio. He died at Paris in 1606.
