a part of a haven, where any thing is landed from the sea. So many landing-places as there are in a harbour or port, so many creeks there are. It is also said to be a shore or bank whereon the water beats, running in a small channel from any part of the sea; from the Latin crepidi. This word is used in the stat. 4 Hen. IV. c. 20. and 5 Eliz. c. 5.
