CRYSTALLINE, or CRYSTALLINES, in medicine, are putules filled with water, and so called on account of their transparency. They are one of the worst symptoms attendant on a gonorrhoea. They are lodged on the prepuce, without pain; and though caused by coition, have nothing of infection attending them. The cause is supposed to be a contusion of the lymphatic vessels in the part affected. Dr Cockburn, who hath described this case, recommends for the cure a mixture of three parts of lime-water and two of rectified spirit of wine, to be used warm, as a lotion, three times a-day.
