orum, (anc. geog.) an island opposite to Malte a promontory, and to Boie a town of Laconica; with a cognominal town, which has an excellent port called Scanda. The island was sacred to Venus, with a very ancient temple of that goddess exhibited in armour at Cythera, as in Cyprus, Now Cergio.
