in natural history, a name given, by Bartholomew and some others, to the pellucid fossil substance, more usually called, from the place whence it was first brought, Island crystal; tho' properly it is no crystal at all, but a fine pellucid spar, called by Dr Hill, from its shape, parallelopipedum.
