or DALLER, a silver coin, nearly of the value of the Spanish piece of eight or French crown.

Dollars are coined in different parts of Germany and Holland; and have their diminutions, as semi-dollars, quarter dollars, &c. See MONET-Table.

They are not all of the same fineness nor weight. The Dutch dollars are the most frequent. In the Levant they are called aflaini, from the impression of a lion thereon.
