Ciflius and Oppius; also Mons Equilinus, softened from Exquillius; and this again from Excebusius, the watch or guard Romulus kept here, from a jealousy he entertained of his colleague Titus Tatius. On the east side it reached the city walls; on the south, the Via Laticana; on the west, the wide valley between mount Coelius and the Palatine; on the north, the Mons Viminalis; on the east side was the Porta Esquilina.
