the YAMBOO: A genus of the monogynia order, belonging to the icosacladia class of plants; and in the natural method ranking under the 19th order, Hesperidea. The calyx is quadripartite, superior; the petals four; the fruit a monoecious quadrangular plum. There are two species, both natives of the hot parts of Asia. They rise from 20 to 30 feet high; and bear plum-shaped fruit, including one nut. They are too tender to live in this country, unless they are constantly kept in a stove.
