(Ciro), a skilful painter, born of a good family at Rome, in 1634. He was bred under Peter Cortona; and the works of the scholar are often mistaken for those of the master. The great duke of Tuscany nominated him chief of the Florentine school; and he was as good an architect as a painter. He died in 1689.
