(Sir Balthazar), a painter of Antwerp, born in the year 1592, distinguished himself by painting small figures in distemper. King Charles I. was so pleased with his performances, that he invited him to his court, where he obtained the esteem of the duke of Buckingham, and grew into great favour. He was not only knighted, but sent to Brussels, where he long resided as agent for the king of Great Britain.
