a town of Suffolk in England, seated on a neck of land between two branches of the river Blith, 101 miles from London. It is a well frequented thriving place, and has a trade in linen-yarn and sail-cloth. It has one large church, and about 700 good houses; but the streets are neither wide nor paved. About the town is raised a great deal of hemp. E. Long. 1. 40. N. Lat. 52. 30.
