Volume 8 · 53 words · 1797 Edition

in beasts, denotes the same with after birth in women. Thyme, penny-royal, winter-favor, and common horehound, boiled in white-wine, and given to a mare, are esteemed good to expel the heam. Ditany, applied in a pessary, expels the heam, as well as the dead foal; so also do fennel, hops, savin, angelica, &c.
