(Thomas), a celebrated antiquarian, eminent for his writings and editions of MSS. His father was parish-clerk of Little Waltham in Berkshire, where he was born in 1680. He had a liberal education by the patronage of a neighbouring gentleman; and even from a boy discovered a strong propensity to the study of antiquities. He did great services to the Bodleian library, and died in 1735.
