(Thomas), an eminent English divine, was born at Witton in the bishopric of Durham in 1579, of a good family. He commenced doctor of divinity at Oxford in 1622; and at last was made chaplain in ordinary, prebendary of Winchester, and dean of Peterborough. He was a very great scholar; and died in 1640. His performance upon the Creed is a learned and valuable piece; which, with his other works, was published in 1673.
