a town of Turkey in Asia, and in Natolia, with a Greek archbishop's see. It is the ancient Nice, famous for the first general council held here in 325. There is now nothing remaining of its ancient splendor but an aqueduct. The Jews inhabit the greatest part of it; and it is seated in a country fertile in corn and excellent wine. E. Long. 30° 9'. N.
