a town of Oxfordshire, four miles from Woodstock, and 12 from Oxford. It is situated on the Glym river, which divides the parish in two parts, viz. Over and Nether Kiddington, in the latter of which stands the church. This parish was given by King Offa in 780 to Worcester priory. Here King Ethelred had a palace; in the garden of the manor-house is an antique font brought from Edward the Confessor's chapel at Ilip, wherein he received baptism. In Hillwood near this place is a Roman encampment in extraordinary preservation, but little noticed.
