(John), an eminent German divine, was born at Lubec in 1575. He studied in several places of Germany; in 1602 he was made professor of poetry at Rostock, and in 1613 rector of the university at Lubec. He exercised this last employment with extraordinary application during the rest of his life, and died in 1643. He wrote several works; the most esteemed of which are, 1. *De funeribus Romanorum*. 2. *De annulis liber singularis*.

KIRIATHAIM, (anc. geog.), one of the towns built by the Reubenites; reckoned to the tribe of Reuben (Joshua, xiii.), 12 miles to the west of Midaba. The ancient residence of the giants called Emim.
