a town of Wilts, 4 miles south of the Devizes, and 89 miles from London. It is called in our histories Stepulc-Lavington; but now Cheping Cheaping or Market-Lavington on account of its markets, which are on Monday and Wednesday, the last a great corn-market. It is supposed to have been a market-town above 200 years. Here is a charity-school for 36 children, who have books given them, and the girls are taught to knit and sew.
