a town of Gloucestershire in England, 71 miles from London, is seated on the west bank of the river Severn, and has a market on Wednesdays, with two fairs in the year. In the neighbourhood are the remains of a large Roman encampment, with foundations of many ancient buildings, among which are the ruins of a Roman hypocaust of an oval form, and Roman antiquities and coins are often found here in great number. Mr Bathurst has a fine seat here called Sidney-Park, with very extensive woods adjoining.
