in a military sense, means a party of soldiers, who, without any order, go into the neighbouring housetops and villages, when the army is either in camp or garrison, to plunder and destroy, &c. Marauders are a disgrace to the camp, to the military profession, and deserve no better quarter from their officers than they give to poor peasants, &c.
