Marc, in commerce, denotes a weight used in several states of Europe, and for several commodities, especially gold and silver. In France, the mark is divided into eight ounces, 64 drachms, 192 deniers or penny-weights, 160 etterlines, 320 mails, 60 felins, or 4608 grains. The English mark is two thirds of a pound Sterling, or 13s. 4d., and the Scotch mark is of equal value in Scots money of account, viz. 13½d.
