MARSQUIVER, or Marsalquivier, a strong and ancient town of Africa, on the coast of Barbary, and in the province of Beni-Arax, in the kingdom of Tremesen, with one of the best harbours in Africa. It was taken by the Spaniards in 1732. It is seated on a rock near a bay of the sea, in W. Long. 0° 10'. N. Lat. 35° 40'.
