a pulsatile instrument of music, among the Hebrews, which was a square table of wood, fitted with a handle; over this table was stretched an iron chain, or hempen cord, passing thro' balls of wood or braids, which struck against the table, when the instrument was shook, and occasioned a clear sound, which might be heard at a great distance. See Kircher's figure of it in Plate CCCXIV.
