(James), an eminent French physician, born at Chalons-sur-Saone, was the disciple and friend of the famous Guy Patin. He drew upon himself the jealousy and hatred of the old physicians by the public theses he maintained, and afterwards vindicated in his writings. He died in a very advanced age in 1729. He wrote in French, 1. Consultations on the Rheumatism. 2. A chemical treatise on Fevers. 3. A physical dissertation on the Drophy; and other works which are esteemed.
