in botany: A genus of the decagynia order, belonging to the decandra class of plants; and in the natural method ranking under the 13th order, Succulentae. The calyx is quinquapartite; there are five petals; the capsule inferior, decemlocular, decaspermous, Neuritis mous, and aculeated. There is only one species, the Procumbens. The whole plant is white and woolly; it sends off numerous stalks in every direction, which lie flat on the ground: the leaves stand on short footstalks; they are of an oval shape, and plaited like those of the ladies' mantle. It is a native of the warm climates, and found on dry parched grounds.
