a woman who presided over the sacred rites of Vesta for 57 years with the greatest sanctity. She died in the reign of Tiberius, and the daughter of Domitius succeeded her.

OCELLUS the Lucanian, an ancient Greek philosopher of the school of Pythagoras, who lived before Plato. His work Ἀπολλωνίας Ἄνωνος, or "The Universe," is the only piece of his which is come down entire to us; and was written originally in the Doric dialect, but was translated by another hand into the Attic. William Christian, and after him Lewis Nogarola, translated this work into Latin; and we have several editions of it, both in Greek and Latin.
