or tyger-flower, in botany: A large Mexican plant, composed of three pointed petals, red, but towards the middle of a mixed white and yellow, representing in some degree the spots of that wild animal from which it takes its name. The plant has leaves also resembling those of the iris, and a bulbous root. See Plate CCCL.
