He was represented as appearing lame when he approached, and with wings at his departure; to show the difficulty of attaining wealth, and the uncertainty of its enjoyment. He was also frequently represented blind, to show that he often bestowed his favours on the most unworthy, and left in necessity those who had the greatest merit.
