BEAN-CAPER, in botany; a genus of plants of the class of decandra and order monogynia, and in the natural system arranged under the 14th order, Cruciferae. There are 11 species, partly shrubby and partly herbaceous plants, all natives of warm climates, though some of them are hardy enough to endure the open air in this country.
