a Greek historian, the son of Andronicus, who was eminent for his riches and excellent qualities, was born at Tauromenium in Sicily, and flourished in the time of Agathocles. He wrote several books, and among the rest an history of his own country; but they are all lost.
a famous Pythagorean philosopher, was born at Locres in Italy, and lived before Plato. There is still extant a small treatise of his on Nature and the Soul of the World, written in the Doric dialect. This treatise, which is to be found in the works of Plato, furnished that great philosopher with the subject of his treatise intitled Timaeus.
