a province of New Spain, bounded on the east by that of Costa Rica, on the west by Panama, on the north by Darien and the gulf of Mexico, and on the south by the South sea. It is about 125 miles in length from east to west, and 60 in breadth from north to south. It is a mountainous barren country; but has plenty of gold and silver. Concepcion is the capital town.
