the ZERTE, a fish caught in the rivers of Italy and some other places, of the figure of the chub, and called by authors capito anodromus, and the alike. It seldom grows to more than two pounds weight, and at times lives in rivers, at times in the sea; and is esteemed a very well tailed fish, especially a little before the season of its spawning. The zerta is that species of cyprinus described by Gellner and others under the name of capito anodromus.
