or ATROTH, in Ancient Geography, the name of several towns. Two appear to have been in Samaria, in the tribe of Ephraim; and one four miles to the north of Sebaste, or the city of Samaria; the other in the confines of Benjamin and Ephraim, yet so as to be in the district of Ephraim rather than Benjamin (Joshua). This the Arubad-Adder mentioned by Joshua xvi. 5, from which to Upper Bethoron extends the greatest breadth of the tribe of Ephraim.
