or Beziers, an ancient town of France, in Lower Languedoc, now the department of Hérault, formerly a bishop's see, and the title of a vicount. It has a delightful situation; and the country in which it stands is fertile in corn and oil, and produces excellent wine. It is seated on a hill near the river Orbe, in E. Long. 3. 23. N.
