Volume 3 · 56 words · 1810 Edition

from the French bander, 'to bend,' a distortion of the legs, when they turn either inward or outward on either side; arising from some defect in the birth, or imprudence in the nurse, endeavouring to make a child stand or walk before his legs were strong enough or sustain the weight of his body. See Valgus.
