JOHN, a physician and surgeon in the reign of Queen Elizabeth, was educated at Oxford, where, says Anthony Wood, he studied logicals for a time; but afterwards applied himself solely to physic and surgery. In 1573 he took the degree of bachelor of physic; and, obtaining a license from the university to practice, settled at Nottingham, where he lived many years in great repute, and wrote several medical treatises.
