a town of Germany, and capital of Brigswald. It was twice in possession of the French; but restored to the house of Austria, in consequence of treaties of peace. It was a very strong place, but the fortifications have been demolished. It is seated on the Rhine, where there is a bridge of boats. E. Long. 7° 49'. N. Lat. 48° 5'.
