a large, populous, and ancient town of France, in the department of Isère, with a bishop's see. It contains a great number of handsome structures, particularly the churches and convents. The leather and gloves that are made here are highly esteemed. It is seated on the river Isère, over which there are two bridges to pass into that part called Perrière, a large street on the other side of the river. E. Long. 5° 49'. N. Lat. 45° 12'.
