in a commercial style, signifies the stock or ready money which a merchant or other person has in his present disposal to negotiate; so called from the French term caisse, i.e. "chest or coffin," for the keeping of money.

M. Savary shows that the management of the cash of a company is the most considerable article, and that wherein its good or ill success depends.
