or CATECHETICAL, something that relates to oral instruction in the rudiments of Christianity.—Catechetical schools were buildings appointed for the office of the catechist, adjoining to the church, and called catechumenae: such was that in which Origen and many other famous men read catechetical lectures at Alexandria.
