in common law, a writ that lies where a woman gives land to a man in fee to the intent he shall marry her, and he refuses to do it in a reasonable time, being thereupon required by the woman; and in such case, for not performing the condition, the entry of the woman into the lands again has been adjudged lawful.

The husband and wife may sue this writ against another who ought to have married her.
