a handsome, populous, and large town of Switzerland, in the country of the Grisons. It is a trading place, especially in wine and delicate fruits. The governor's palace and the churches are very magnificent, and the inhabitants are Roman Catholics. It was at one period during the late contest with France, the scene of much carnage and bloodshed. It is seated near the lake Como. E. Long. 9° 29'. N. Lat. 46° 15'.
