a large and strong town of Great Poland, of which it is capital, and in the palatinate of Calith, with an archbishop's see, whose prelate is primate of Poland, and viceroy during the vacancy of the throne. It was the first town built in the kingdom, and formerly more considerable than at present. E. Long. 18° 20'. N. Lat. 52° 28'.
