Polemical Theology, something that is contrary to the faith or doctrine established in the true church. The word is formed of the Greek ἑταῖρος, ἑταῖρος, ἑταῖρος, ἑταῖρος, "opinion." Thus, we say a heterodox opinion, a heterodox divine, &c. The word stands in opposition to orthodox.
